Bi-Weekly Update - May 6
Hello CCPHers,
In our last Bi-Weekly Update, the listed submission date for paper and poster proposals for the CCPH 2016 Annual Meeting on October 21-22, 2016, was incorrect. The correct deadline for submissions is June 15, 2016.
In other news, the new California History Action webpage has been updated! Please check out the new page here. CHA is now a web-based information board that publishes public and member articles on California museums, public history projects, history events, archive holdings, book reviews, and any other articles on public history. CCPH eagerly welcomes submissions from museums, archives, historical societies, etc. who are interested in posting any of the information above. Email any of your submissions to ccph@csus.edu.
Also, please note:
CCPH is actively seeking nominations for our 2016 Awards, recognizing those in the Public History field doing extraordinary work. For more information about the awards that we offer and past award winners, visit our Awards webpage.
CCPH invites any announcements or articles relating to history from our members and mailing list to include in our updates.

New Exhibit – Justice and Judges

The Contra Costa County Historical Society is hosting an Open House on May 21 to unveil its new exhibit “Justice and Judges: The History of the Law in Contra Costa County”. Former Judges and invited guests will talk about the evolution of the County legal system, and share a few personal stories from the past. The exhibit honors Judge Richard Arnason who served as a Superior Court Judge for 49 years. Tours of the County archives will be available after the talk.

SMALL MUSEUMS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR AASLH – DUE JUNE 10 AASLH’s Small Museums Committee is offering scholarships to any AASLH members. Each $500 scholarship covers the cost of conference registration and a luncheon. Any remaining funds may be used to offset travel and/or lodging expenses. Read more

Join us at Gensler's beautiful Los Angeles offices for a stirring panel discussion about how participatory design impacts the creation of the built environment in Los Angeles and beyond. Inspired by Lawrence Halprin’s creative public participation methods, presenters and participants will consider how public participation does, could, and should impact current projects in Los Angeles.
Guest speakers include a diverse array of architects, designers, planners, and architectural historians. Alison Bick Hirsch, Assistant Professor at the USC School of Architecture and author of City Choreographer: Lawrence Halprin in Urban Renewal America, will moderate the discussion.
